3 Schools represented Lamphun in the recent “Sawasdee” junior cricket competition on the 3rd December 2011 in Mae On. The teams, winners of the 1st Lamphun tournament, Sibonyeun Wangthong, along with Ban Jam and Muangkwak, finishing 2nd, 3rd and 4th in that order to the competition winners Sahakorn 2 of Mae On. Sahakorn 2 were a well organised and disciplined team that thoroughly deserved to win and although Sibonyeun played well at times were never consistent enough to compete for the trophy. Ban Jam in only there 2nd competition finished 3rd despite having 2 good players missing from the team, and they could have finished 2nd but unfortunately slipped up and lost by 2 runs against the Ruam team, who were made up of surplus players after Chol Phratan Phataek failed to turn up. Overall it was a great day for all the teams competing but I think we will have to wait a while before a Lamphun team takes a Chiang Mai winning medal home...hopefully not too long!
