Code of Conduct and Play

This Code of Conduct has been established to ensure that the Club and its members maintain a positive reputation, whether participating as a player, representative of an invitational team or spectator. Failure to adhere to this Code may result in suspension or expulsion from the Club.

Expectations for All Members:

  • Respect: Treat everyone with dignity, respect, and fairness, regardless of gender, ability, race, colour, religion, language, politics, nationality, or ethnic background.
  • Prohibited Behaviour: Do not engage in any form of discrimination, harassment, or abuse, including the use of offensive language or gestures, or the incitement of hatred or violence.
  • Sportsmanship: Promote sportsmanship and fair play at all times. All participants are encouraged to foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere.

Specific Guidelines for Players:

  • Captain’s Authority: The team captain has the right to withdraw an appeal if a clear error has led to a batter’s dismissal. Players should not contest the umpire’s decision.
  • Umpire’s Decision: The umpire’s decision is final. Players must respect this, except when they are acting as the umpire themselves.
  • Walking: Batters are encouraged to declare themselves out (ie. “walk") if they know they are dismissed, even if the umpire has given them the benefit of the doubt.

Social Match Rules:

  • Before the match begins, captains must agree on:
    • The number of overs to be bowled.
    • The frequency of changing ends.
    • How wides and no-balls will be handled (rebowled or penalised with runs).
    • The retirement target for batters.
  • Retired Batters: A retired batter may return to bat once all other players have had their turn. This ensures that all players can participate fully in the match.
  • Balanced Teams: Teams should periodically rotate players to maintain a balance of abilities and provide equal opportunities for participation.

Inclusion of Local Cricketers:

It is essential to involve local Thai cricketers in matches. This helps build strong relationships with the local cricket community and supports the development of emerging players.
