CMLCC’s handover of power

The Lanna AGM was held on Friday 26th June at the UM Irish Pub as we enjoyed a social gathering to round up the season and to elect a new ExCom for the 2026/27 season. Ian Harling stepped down as chairman but will remain fully involved after all his hard work and is replaced by Richard Cowles who has been a mainstay of the Club for many years/ Richie George returns as Treasurer and Owen Beynon joins the Excom as manager but with great plans to develop Thai cricket when he returns from the UK at the end of the year. Locky remains Secretary and Elliot continues as Captain. It was a very enjoyable meeting and thanks must go to the sponsors who have agreed to continue their support for next year. We will all try to make next season even better for all players and supporters of CMLCC.

The 2025/26 season had not quite finished as five Lanna players came over to Prem the next day to play in the CMCC team against a side from Phuket. The locals won both matches which is a boost for the standard of cricket in Chiang Mai and looking ahead the facilities at Prem were much improved as the pitch played well and the nets were in full use. Thanks to Elliot for hosting us at his house on the river for a pleasant early evening libation.

There may be possibilities to play indoor cricket during the wet season and Jon Scales our event manager is hosting back yard cricket at Palm Villa along with a BBQ to bring the outdoor season to a close and to wish Owen and Charlie well as they return to the UK until the end of the year.
