Chanchai Pengkamta continued his outstanding run of form with bat and ball as he won yet another player of the match award as Lamphun defeated CMCC by seven wickets on their return to the Chiang Mai Senior League.
Chanchai was playing his last match as a teenager as he turns 20 on 31st January but once again he was too good for CMCC after helping Lanna Thais to a league-winning victory just two months before. After Lamphun had won the toss, Chanchai took the new ball and had CMCC in trouble from the start as he dismissed Asif Noor and Sidhart for ducks. Veteran Aasif top-scored with 32 before Chanchai returned to bring the innings to a premature end.
Chanchai finished with figures of 4 for 25 in 6.3 overs as CMCC were dismissed for 109 and he was backed up well by Cher who took 3 for 23 including the important wicket of Abaid for 15. Chanchai opened the batting and kept his calm when Jigar claimed two early wickets.
Lamphun are not a one-man team as Choo supported Chanchail in a third-wicket partnership of 79 but the young all-rounder was able to complete his fifty with the match-winning boundary as Lamphun reached 112 for 3 in just 18.2 overs to complete a comprehensive victory by seven wickets.
Chanchai has been selected to play for Thailand in the ACC T20 Eastern Region tournament in Bangkok and he has shown he is now ready to show his class in international cricket as he dominated the day with four wickets and an unbeaten 52.
